It has been one of the first news if not the first we read this 2013 relating to Cala d’Or. The aparthotel Puerto del Sol has been incorporated to the Palia Hotel Chain. So far this resort was an independent Hotel that did not belong to any well known chain. From this January 2013 onwards the Puerto del Sol Hotel will be operated by the Palia Hotel Chain which already owns a Hotel in Cala d’Or: the Palia Dolce Farniente.

The “Puerto del Sol apartments” is the only resort you can find in the Marina in Cala d’Or. They are right behind the Porto Cari area and its closest beach is es Calo des Pou located in the Es Forti Area which you can reach walking through the alley starting in the little roundabout where you find the entrance to the Marina.

The apartments have have satellite TV and a private balcony each. There is a garden and a shared outdoor pool with a pool area for children.

The resort features tiled floors and beach-inspired decor. Each apartment has a kitchenette with stove and microwave.

The Puerta del Sol complex has a playground and a games room. Staff at the reception will provide you with all the information you might need to enjoy your stay in Cala d’Or. Consider the sailing attractions you will find in Marina like the Vita Bel Sailing Charter and the Speed Boats Sea Riders. The Marina is also an excellent place to go out for a nice dinner.

The natural park of Cala Mondragó is less than a 15 minute drive from the apartments. Can be reached in less than 1 hour drive from Palma Airport.

Marina Cala d’Or: integrating marina and housing

Marina Cala d’Or

Marina Cala d’Or was formerly called Cala Llonga and is one of the areas I would recommend visiting during your holidays in Cala d’Or. I can give you few reasons to do it:

  • It is a nice place to go for a walk. It is quite interesting to see how the housing has been developed around the Marina. The apartments and villas keep the Cala d’Or style brought by Pep Costa back in the 30’s. He brought the housing style from Ibiza and it has been kept also in the housing developments that took place in the Marina after the 70’s when the Marina was built.
  • It is to me the best place to go for a romantic or special meal. There are many restaurants in this area and the majority of them will have views to the Marina which none of the other restaurant areas in Cala d’Or can offer. We will leave to you what type of restaurant you choose.
  • There are some nautical attractions that you could hire when visiting the Marina: From hiring motorboats without license for a day to hiring a yacht charter with or without skipper for few days.  There are also attractions like Sea Riders -Speed Boats- and Vita-Bel -Sailing charter- that can be an interesting way of enjoying your holidays in Cala d’Or.
